In November 2011, all circles of the Saint John's United Methodist Women overwhelmingly voted to support Reconciling Ministries Network whose mission to create space at the table for all of God's children. RMN seeks to mobilize United Methodists of all sexual orientations and gender identities to transform our church and world into the full expression of Christ's inclusive love.
Below are the statements from each circle:
ANNA CIRCLE
The Anna Circle of United Methodist Women of Saint John's United Methodist Church (Austin, Texas) embrace as a gift the diversity of our community and the world. We celebrate our human family's diversity of sexual orientation, gender identity, race, ethnicity, age, faith history, economic status, marital status, physical or mental ability and education. We affirm that all people are created in the image of God,are beloved children of God worthy of His love and grace. We welcome the full inclusion of all women in the life and ministries of the UMW at Saint Johns as we journey toward reconciliation through Christ.
HANNAH CIRCLE
We declare ourselves to be an open and affirming circle, embracing diversity and affirming the dignity and worth of every person created in God's image. We welcome into full membership and participation in Hannah Circle, women of every race, ethnic background, age, gender identification, sexual orientation, physical or mental ability, social economic background, marital status and faith background. We welcome all to share in the blessings of participation in the United Methodist Women at Saint John's.
MIRIAM CIRCLE
As United Methodist Women, we acknowledge that ALL persons are of sacred worth. As we seek to live together in Christian community, we renew our commitment to reflect God’s love to ALL people. We welcome ALL women as sisters in Miriam Circle and into the life and ministries of the United Methodist Women at Saint John’s UMC. ALL means ALL. No exceptions.
MOM'S COFFEE CIRCLE
The "Mom's Coffee" United Methodist Women Circle of Saint John’s United Methodist Church in Austin, Texas affirms that “all persons are individuals of sacred worth” as stated in the Social Principles of the United Methodist Church. By voting to become a community associated with the Reconciling Ministries Network, we join the witness of United Methodists people of all sexual orientations and gender identities to participate fully in the life of the church.
