Position Title: Children and Youth Coordinator

Date: April 2025

Hours per week: 40 hours per week, full-time

Purpose of the Position: Ensure faith development opportunities for students K-12. Lead our children and family ministry (birth through 5th grade). Provide support for youth (6th through 12th grade). Support young families with our Director of Faith Development.

Objectives:   

  • Develop the Children’s Ministry and support Youth Ministry goals in accordance with Saint John’s Strategic Plan.
  • Oversee the ministry and weekly programming for children ages birth – 5th grade, support the weekly programming for youth.
  • Create environments, activities, and programming for each age group that will facilitate learning and encourage spiritual growth. This includes Sunday school, Children’s Time and young members in worship, mission and service opportunities, as well as fellowship.
  • Plan and coordinate family events - seasonal and special - including VBS and Family Camp.
  • Communicate with families through weekly emails, phone calls, and visits.
  • Communicate relevant events to the broader church community.
  •  Recruit, train, and schedule volunteers.
  • Supervise Childcare Coordinator.
  • Help maintain Saint John’s Safety Policy in accordance with children and families through Safe Gatherings.
  • Create and implement opportunities throughout the year to enhance the relationship between Saint John’s and Grace Garden Preschool.
  • Help coordinate chapel for Grace Garden Preschool.
  • After a period of training, lead the youth program. 

General:

  • Track expenditures and maintain budgets
  • Attend weekly staff meeting to discuss ministry strategy and effectiveness  

Minimum requirements:   

  • CPR/First Aid  
  • Safe Gatherings Trained  
  • Bachelor’s degree in education or equivalent
  • Experience leading children's groups
  • Solid theology
