Methodist Federation for Social Action at Saint John's

The Methodist Federation for Social Action (MFSA) has a remarkable past, an exciting present, and a promising future. Why does there need to be a Methodist Federation for Social Action? Simply put, to help the church be the church. The members of the Southwest Texas Conference Chapter of MFSA call United Methodists to educate, promote, and act on Jesus' teachings of God's radical love and justice for all. Our chapter currently has three action groups aligned with the National MFSA priorities, as listed below:

■Seeking Inclusion & Equality
■Full inclusion of GLBT persons in the church & society
■Creating a Peaceful Culture
■Increased peace and non-violence in our personal lives, the UMC, and our communities
■Supporting Justice & the Methodist Social Principles – Working to promote progressive changes in public policy and personal lifestyle, including:
■Opposing the death penalty in Texas
■Protecting the environment
■Promoting compassionate immigration policy
■Supporting progressive Texas state legislation

Saint John's is very active in MFSA, hosting meetings and being actively involved in its mission. For more information, contact Anne Mund.
